The Imaginary Word
Edward Bear & The Very Long Walk

Episode 146 of Escape Pod, Edward Bear and The Very Long Walk by Ken Scholes has to be one of the best things I've heard or read lately. In a long time maybe. But then, I loved my childhood stories. I loved the characters in my childhood stories. And Steve Eley is right - there is something about Hero fiction that strums all the right chords for me.

This is the kind of story that at once brings a tear to my eye and a warmth to my heart. I'll be looking for more of Mr. Scholes work after hearing this. I hope you enjoy it. I hope you take the time to listen to (or read it in Talebones where it first appeared).

For the Children in us all...

"You should have seen the way they cried out for blood. I frequent the boards at a popular SF&F magazine, and the occasional spam left by self-published authors trying to sell their books always provoked drastic responses. For me, it signaled a sparsity of opportunities for independant writers to market their books. Totally Novel is trying to change that." - Wade Ogletree, Founder of Totally Novel.
